Join our Mission to Lead the Future of Snacking. Make It With Pride.

Working as part of a cross‑functional team, you translate complex technical challenges into computer simulations to promote rapid, high‑quality innovation across our chocolate, biscuit, gum and candy categories. You identify, define and solve complex business problems by applying broad technical knowledge and your in‑depth knowledge of your technical specialty. You work collaboratively with others on the team to meet the current and future strategic demands of the business.

How

you will contribute
  • Plan, lead and manage modelling and simulation projects, working with other scientists to define complex ingredient chemistry challenges to be solved.
  • Define data requirements to build simulations; work with internal analytical teams or external organisations to collect the information required.
  • Use computational chemistry software tools to design, build, test and implement simulations of food ingredient systems, or select and manage delivery through an external partner.
  • Validate simulations against experimental data from food ingredient processing trials.
  • Report simulation results and work with R&D Subject Matter Experts to embed learnings and deploy into the business quickly, accelerating innovation and product optimisation.
  • Write best‑practice documentation from learnings discovered and develop simplified software tools for others to use based on the simulations.
  • Partner with Mondelez Digital Services (IT) to create deployment plans and maintain simulation resources, including hardware and software updates and security and backup systems.
  • Manage key stakeholders across R&D, IT, and external partners to ensure aligned delivery and rapid adoption of simulation outputs.
  • Research and keep abreast of developments in computational chemistry, chemical engineering, and simulation techniques to ensure the team stays at the forefront of the field.
What you will bring
  • Working collaboratively internally and externally in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing commercial and technical environment.
  • Communicating complex problems simply to non‑technical audiences with business‑relevant context.
  • Problem‑solving, dealing with ambiguity, standing alone, presentation skills, listening, and written communication.
  • Deep expertise in at least one modelling field.
More about this role

A unique opportunity to bring the power of computational chemistry to the world of food science and ingredient innovation. Join a cross‑functional R&D team at Mondelez International, where you will translate complex chemistry challenges into cutting‑edge computer simulations that drive rapid, high‑quality innovation across the global snacking portfolio.

Role Requirements
  • Deep expertise in computational chemistry.
  • Proficiency with computational chemistry software tools (e.g., molecular dynamics, chemical process simulation, reaction modelling).
  • Strong understanding of chemistry, chemical thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, mass and heat transfer phenomena.
  • Experience designing, building, testing, and validating computer simulations of chemical systems.
  • Strong programming capabilities in languages commonly used in scientific computing (Python, MATLAB, or similar).
  • Ability to work with data and communicate insights through storytelling with data, translating complex analytical outputs into clear, compelling narratives for technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • BSc level education in a chemistry‑related subject (e.g., biochemistry, physical chemistry, chemical engineering); or equivalent level in computer science, maths, etc. with ability to demonstrate fundamental understanding and experience in chemistry.
Preferred
  • Experience with complex multi‑phase, multi‑component materials (e.g., foods, cosmetics, etc.).
  • Experience across laboratories, pilot plants, and manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of food science and ingredient chemistry.
  • Masters/PhD level education in a related subject (e.g., biochemistry, physical chemistry, chemical engineering, computer science).
  • Awareness of broader modelling techniques (e.g., computational fluid dynamics).
