The Department

Aston Villa Football Club are building a stage for magical memories in our redevelopment and expansion of Villa Park to create a world class sports and entertainment venue and a thriving community hub. Our redevelopment project includes the creation of the new multi – use space called ‘The Warehouse’ which will include a new Fan Zone destination and dynamic events space for non – matchdays.

At the heart of every successful project is our Security Team who are dedicated to promoting a strong security culture and play a crucial role in the operational engine of any event. They protect our staff, partners and guests, ensuring that any guests that join us at Villa Park for any kind of event can enjoy their experience and return home safely.

To help us bring our vision to life, we have an exciting opportunity for an Event Security Manager.

The Role

We are looking for an Event Security Manager who will manage and oversee all non-matchday events (including The Warehouse) at Villa Park including any concerts we host. Some of your key responsibilities and accountabilities will be the creation of dynamic risk assessment and deployment plans and implementation of relevant control measures and security related documentation / policies for our non-football related events to deliver a safe and secure event.

You work collaboratively with our external partners including Safety Advisory Groups, Event Policing Departments, SIA, event organisers / promoters to provide information and to work through plans to ensure we are able to deliver the security to the necessary standard. You will also be the key contact to liaise and manage staffing levels for our non-matchday events with our approved security providers.

The role will require you to adapt and be flexible – whilst you will be responsible for the management and oversight of the events security strategy; you will also be visible, approachable and on the ground at events providing real time support and decision making to the wider team.

For further information about the Role, please see the Role Profile.

The Person

This is the perfect role for someone who wants to take ownership of a project and truly shape its direction, bringing fresh ideas, strong leadership and a proactive approach to building an exceptional security operation.

We are looking for someone who has proven experience of managing the operational security requirements of a venue of at least 1,000 capacity with demonstrable experience of creating, implementing risk assessments, working with local authorities and third-party agencies. You will need to be experienced in dynamic incident management – including rapid assessment, de-escalation, and co-ordination with relevant teams or emergency services as and when necessary.

You will need to be proactive with a high level of integrity with excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships quickly and confidently with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external. You will also need to be able to motivate others to deliver exceptional levels of both security and customer service.

This is a varied role which will require you to be organised with exceptional attention to detail. You will need to have clear, concise and accurate verbal and written communication skills and be able to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment. You must be a proficient user of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

A Level 5 in Crowd Safety Management and a Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) licence would be ideal, but not essential for this role.

Given the nature of the role, you must be able to work flexibly as the Club requires in line with the event calendar, which will include evenings and weekends; you may also be asked to support on other stadium events as and when required
