Job Description

Summary/objective

Buffalo Rock is an award‑winning Pepsi‑Cola bottler founded in Birmingham, AL, more than 100 years ago. The Warehouse CO₂ Filler Operator is a key member of the Corporate Warehouse team, responsible for performing many CO₂ functions to support the efficient operations of the warehouse.

Essential Functions
  • Properly follow all processes as outlined by the supervisor.
  • Acquire and maintain training and certification on powered industrial equipment such as forklifts, layer picker and electric pallet jacks.
  • Operate forklifts up to 50% of the day in the performance of job duties.
  • Work varying shifts, weekends and/or overtime as needed to meet customer demand.
  • Perform general housekeeping functions within the warehouse, offices and grounds.
  • Assist Warehouse Forklift Operators as requested to meet customer demand.
  • Follow all safety guidelines.
  • Maintain and immediately report issues with electronic equipment (voice pick headpieces, RF equipment, etc.).
  • Replace broken parts on CO₂ tanks.
  • Unload empty CO₂ tanks from trailers as needed.
  • Fill CO₂ tanks as needed — weighing up to 45 pounds.
  • Pull out tanks due for hydro‑testing.
  • Operate Recycle Equipment
  • Load recycle bins into the recycle machine.
  • Keep plastic and cans separate and ensure no trash is mixed in with the product being processed.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all floor areas using broom and hoses.
  • Pick up trash from plant grounds.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Program (GMP) requirements as listed in Code of Federal Regulations 21 § 110.
  • Participate in Buffalo Rock food safety training and report potential issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

Working conditions involve both indoor and outdoor environments, with temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold, and exposure to rain or snow for extended periods.

Physical Demands

Lift/Carry – Stand, walk, and manually manipulate items ranging from 11‑20 lbs. to 21‑50 lbs. Basic squatting or kneeling may be required. Climbs and reaches above shoulder level may occur occasionally.

Push/Pull – Handle loads between 13‑25 lbs. and 26‑40 lbs., frequently lifting 41‑100 lbs. occasionally.

Required

Education and Experience
  • Education:

    High School Diploma (or GED or equivalent);
    Preferred.
  • Experience:

    None.
  • Certifications:

    Forklift certification via Buffalo Rock.
  • Other Requirements:
    Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematics, communicate clearly, and basic knowledge of required equipment and tools.
