Temporary Business Support Officer in Birmingham, ASAP start

Your new company
Birmingham City Council's SENAR service is seeking a highly organised and detail focused Temporary Business Support Officer to support the production of high quality Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This role is offered on a temporary basis for approximately six months and plays an important part in ensuring that children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) receive plans that accurately reflect their needs in line with statutory requirements.

Your new role
In this position, you will assist with drafting clear, accurate and legally compliant EHCPs, working from assessment reports and professional advice. You will help ensure that each section of the plan fully reflects the child or young person's needs, outcomes and required provision in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice. The role involves liaising closely with SEN Caseworkers, professionals and families to gather, interpret and record essential information, while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and data protection.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be expected to work efficiently under pressure, meeting strict deadlines to support the timely issuance of EHCPs. Strong written communication skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret professional reports are essential. You should also be able to manage your workload effectively and contribute positively to a busy and collaborative team environment.

While not essential, previous experience drafting EHCPs or working within a local authority SEND team would be advantageous, as would familiarity with Birmingham SENAR processes.
What you'll get in return
This six month temporary role offers a valuable opportunity to support a vital service and make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people across the city. You will also receive an hourly rate of £14.32 per hour (inclusive of holiday) and receive payment on a weekly basis.
