Neway International are seeking a Senior Practitioner (SP) with 4 years’ experience to join our client based with Birmingham Children’s Trust.

The Role

A Senior Practitioner is required to provide experienced social work support during a period of long‑term sickness cover.

The postholder will contribute to safe and effective service delivery across children’s social care, offering advanced practice expertise, case oversight and professional leadership within the team.

This role requires strong decision‑making, risk management and the ability to work confidently with complex cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hold a caseload of complex children and families, ensuring high‑quality assessments, planning and interventions.
  • Provide professional guidance, mentoring and support to less experienced social workers.
  • Lead on safeguarding practice, risk analysis and decision‑making in line with statutory requirements.
  • Chair and contribute to multi‑agency meetings, ensuring coordinated and effective service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate, timely case records and ensure compliance with legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Support the team in achieving positive outcomes and sustaining the Trust’s GOOD Ofsted standards.
Candidate Requirements
  • Qualified Social Worker with SWE registration.
  • Minimum 4 years post‑qualification experience.
  • Strong background in children’s social care and complex case management.
  • Enhanced DBS and full compliance documentation.
  • Ability to work confidently in a fast‑paced statutory environment.
