Housing Solutions and Support Caseworkers

Permanent position at Grade B, £28,598- £34,434 per annum. Consultation grade subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review.

Working 36.5 hours per week.

Birmingham City Council is recruiting Housing Solutions and Support Caseworkers to join the team within Homelessness Services. The role is key to providing early support and guidance to prevent homelessness and managing the day‑to‑day operation of the Housing Solution & Support Case Worker Service.

• Interview and assess citizens who approach the Council and who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

• Deliver expert housing advice and solutions.

• Conduct thorough assessments and investigations.

• Make referrals to local authorities and support agencies.

• Deliver high‑quality case management.

• Make informed homeless decisions within statutory guidelines.

• Record all interactions accurately and in detail on the IT system.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Confidence in using systems and databases.
• Knowledge of social housing and homelessness; training provided for those with experience in other social or person‑facing fields.

Hybrid working role; onsite attendance is subject to service needs.

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be undertaken.
