Rebuilding your life after sentencing is one of the toughest challenges a person can face. But with the right support, it's possible. That's where you come in. We're looking for a Personal Well‑being Advisor – someone with compassion, resilience, organisation and flexibility. This is for the person who understands that rehabilitation isn't just about offering advice; it's about rolling up your sleeves and pro‑actively supporting someone on their journey.
This is a demanding role; you'll be working in a challenging environment with people who have complex needs and who can be reluctant to engage. But when you help someone break the cycle and you see them take real steps toward transforming their life, it's a great feeling.
You will support a caseload of service users that may have been previously released from prison, on a suspended sentence or on community orders. Based out of the local probation office you will work collaboratively with pre‑release teams, probation and other internal departments to support them on their journey. You will need to juggle multiple individuals at once, ensuring each person gets the support they need, while keeping meticulous records of every interaction.
You'll often plan your own schedule, but must prioritise effectively – a challenging role where no day will be the same.
- Assessments and Action Plans: Complete personal wellbeing assessments and create tailored action plans for each individual you work with. Guide individuals as per their action plan, helping them reintegrate through practical well‑being activities.
- Collaboration: Intervention may be part of a wider support package so collaborating with internal and external colleagues is a key part of the role.
- Caseload Management: Manage multiple individuals, balancing their needs while keeping up with all the related admin.
- Partnership Working: Identify relevant local organisations to enhance the offering to our service users.
- Quality Recording: Keep thorough, up‑to‑date records of all your work on our IT systems.
- Relationship Building: Connect with people at all levels, engaging with key stakeholders within Probation and building relationships with Service Users in a genuine, trust‑building, non‑judgmental way with attention to confidentiality and boundary maintenance.
- Safeguarding Awareness: Identify safeguarding risks while supporting complex individuals at a challenging time in their lives.
- IT and Administrative
Skills:
Keep meticulous records of every interaction to measure client progress and ensure effective interventions. - Organisation: Handle a busy caseload and stay on top of detailed records.
- Resilience: Stay committed and see things through despite challenges and delayed results.
Whilst we welcome applications from those with lived experience, the role requires an enhanced DBS check and HMPPS EL1 vetting. Due to the time required to complete these checks, successful candidates will be offered a start date at least 6 weeks from the point of job offer to allow sufficient time for all necessary pre‑employment clearances to be obtained.
Benefits- 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with option to trade for additional leave.
- EAP Support programme available 24/7, including 6 free counselling sessions.
- Private medical insurance and life assurance.
- Up to 2 days of Community Giving (volunteering) each year to support a cause that matters to you.
- Eyecare vouchers to help with glasses or eye care.
- Online Shopping discounts.
- Cycle to Work scheme and travel season ticket loan.
- Long service awards to celebrate your commitment.
- Salary Finance offering financial education and advice.
- Opportunity to purchase extra benefits like critical illness cover and dental insurance.
