We are working closely with Birmingham Children's Trust to assist with the appointment of a YOS Officer, on a 1-month contract, likely to be extended at client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration. An experienced and motivated YOS Officer is required to support children, young people, and families within Birmingham Youth Justice Service. The role focuses on reducing offending and reoffending through effective intervention, rehabilitation, safeguarding, and restorative approaches while helping young people build positive futures.
The successful candidate will work closely with partner agencies, families, courts, and community services to deliver tailored interventions and support programmes for vulnerable young people.
- Manage and support young people involved in the youth justice system
- Deliver intervention and rehabilitation programmes to reduce offending
- Prepare and present Pre-Sentence Reports and court reports
- Act as Case Manager for statutory court orders and Youth Rehabilitation Orders
- Undertake risk assessments and develop intervention plans
- Work collaboratively with courts, schools, social care, police, and partner agencies
- Degree level qualification or equivalent in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Youth & Community Justice and Education
- Minimum 2 years' recent experience working with children, young people, and families within youth justice
- Experience working with vulnerable or disaffected young people
- Knowledge of Criminal Justice legislation and Youth Justice practice
- Ability to manage statutory court orders and complete court reports
- Strong risk assessment and safeguarding skills
