Position: Targeted Family Help Social Work Practice Supervisor

As a Social Work Practice Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in supporting and supervising staff in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. You will work closely with Lead Practitioner’s, Team Managers, families, carers, and other professionals to assess needs, develop family plans, and provide family support.

Our services will always be joined up, and you will develop robust partnerships with other teams and outside agencies; to include the police, health, schools and voluntary organisations. We have been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, following a 2023 inspection. This is a fantastic achievement for Birmingham Children's Trust, with many positive highlights focusing on areas including the quality of staff leadership, partnership working, safeguarding and corporate parenting.

What

will I be doing?
  • Providing reflective supervision and casework oversight.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of multi‑agency Family Help plans.
  • Chairing multi‑agency meetings, quality assure and authorise assessments and reports.
  • Promoting the voice of the child and ensure their views shape their care.
  • Championing our practice model ‘Connections Count’ and uphold our values of equality, diversity, and inclusion.

These are citywide roles and successful candidates will be aligned to a specific district.

About You
  • A degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
  • Extensive experience working with vulnerable children and families.
  • Experience of Supervising others
  • Strong knowledge of legislation, safeguarding, and multi‑agency working.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and supervisory skills.
  • A commitment to reflective practice and continuous professional development.

This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham so you must reside within a suitable commutable distance around Birmingham and have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. Sadly, we do not support those who require sponsorship.

  • In addition to the salary offered, there is an incentive payment of £1,000
  • Retention payment of up to £5,000 per annum, subject to tax and NI deductions - T&C's will apply.
