We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified social worker to play a crucial role in safeguarding children and ensuring their best interests are represented. The position offers a competitive rate of £37.99 per hour on an umbrella basis, providing flexibility and a supportive working environment.

As an Independent Reviewing Officer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting independent reviews of care plans and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Facilitating meetings with children, families, and professionals to gather insights and feedback.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of care plans and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensuring that children’s voices are heard and their needs are prioritized in all decision-making processes.
  • Collaborating with multi‑agency teams to promote best practices in child welfare.

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Proven experience in child protection and safeguarding processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children and families effectively.
  • Strong analytical and report‑writing skills.
