TeamThe R&D team is responsible for designing, developing and evolving the internal products that power our business. As a B2B company specialising in second‑hand luxury items, we rely on technology to optimise every stage of our operations, from buying and inbound logistics to selling and post‑sales support. We are a global team with members across Portugal, Brazil and the Philippines.
LocationOur office is near Porto, in the north of Portugal, located in a vibrant business hub. It offers a dynamic and welcoming environment where our employees can connect and network with a large community of tech professionals.
The RoleAs a Backend Engineer, you will join our Porto hub to develop internal products that power our business areas. You will pair with Product Managers, Designers and other Engineers to define, plan, execute and foster a culture of technical excellence.
What You’ll Do- Be a Key Contributor:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will contribute to architectural discussions for backend services and consistently apply established coding standards and best practices. - Feature Ownership:
Own the development, delivery and monitoring of features in a production environment, ensuring code quality and system reliability. - Be Product‑Minded:
Partner with Product Managers to refine and estimate new features, helping translate business requirements into clear technical tasks. - Build Scalable Solutions:
Implement robust applications and event‑driven logic using Azure Service Bus and Hangfire for background processing and asynchronous tasks. - Maintain Data Health:
Implement and optimise database schemas, focusing on data consistency and efficient query performance. - Collaborate on UX/UI:
Work closely with the Design Team and Frontend engineers to ensure API contracts support the intended user experience and are technically feasible. - Maintain Technical Documentation:
Document APIs, system flows and technical processes to ensure knowledge sharing across the team. - Master the Stack: .NET (C#), Postgre
SQL, Hangfire, Azure Service Bus, Azure, Terraform, CI/CD (Bitbucket Pipelines).
- Experienced:
You have 3 to 5 years of experience building and deploying web applications, with a clear understanding of how distributed systems work. - Team‑oriented:
You thrive in a collaborative environment, actively participating in code reviews, technical discussions and pair programming to solve daily challenges. - Backend Proficient:
You have a strong command of .NET (C#) and a solid grasp of Object‑Oriented Programming (OOP) principles. Familiarity with Domain‑Driven Design (DDD) is a plus. - Database Capable:
You are comfortable working with relational databases (like Postgre
SQL), writing efficient queries and understanding basic schema optimisation. - Async‑Savvy:
You have practical experience working with background jobs (e.g., Hangfire) and understand the fundamentals of event‑driven architecture using message brokers like Azure Service Bus or Rabbit
MQ. - Quality Focused:
You consider automated testing (Unit and Integration tests) a standard part of your workflow and understand how they fit into a CI/CD pipeline. - Cloud Curious:
You have some exposure to Microsoft Azure and an interest in (or basic knowledge of) Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform. - Effective Communicator:
You are comfortable working in a global, remote‑friendly team, valuing clear documentation and asynchronous communication.
