Senior Software Engineer – Financial Platform

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Financial Platform team, you’ll help build the systems that ensure Perk’s financial data is accurate, traceable, and audit-ready.

You’ll work on expanding the platform to support increasingly complex financial flows, with a focus on building reliable reconciliation and reporting systems that operate automatically and her than applying short‑term fixes, you’ll design and implement durable solutions that improve the integrity and transparency of our financial infrastructure.

You’ll also help translate and untangle complex business logic across our ERP integrations, ensuring every transaction moving through Perk is correctly represented across systems. Through thoughtful engineering practices, strong ownership, and a focus on auditability, you’ll contribute to a codebase that gives Finance and the broader business confidence in the numbers behind the platform.

• Shape the bigger picture. You won't just build features; you'll refine what to build and why. Senior engineers go beyond the technical solution and focus on the problem itself. You'll contribute to your squad's quarterly goals and long‑term vision alongside Product and Engineering managers.

• Architect for today and tomorrow. When a big change is needed in how our platform works, you'll write the design documents that lay the foundation. You'll manage technical debt and avoid “busy work” so that we invest our energy where it counts most.

• Lead across boundaries. Your influence extends beyond your squad. You'll communicate complex ideas across multiple teams, coordinate cross‑squad initiatives, and participate in guilds or architecture reviews.

• Raise the bar for everyone around you. As a mentor, coach, and bar raiser, you'll support less experienced colleagues and help lift the overall engineering standard through pairing, reviews, and guild meetings.

• Product Leadership. Translates complex business goals into technical roadmaps and de‑risks ambiguous projects through spikes and prototyping.

• System Architecture. Architects scalable, evolvable systems and data models that account for performance, failure isolation, and long‑term maintenance.

• Technical Standards. Defines and upholds engineering excellence, including CI/CD optimizations, testing strategies, and coding standards across the stack.

• Frontend Strategy. Establishes frontend architecture patterns, including state management, performance budgets, and comprehensive testing.

• Backend Excellence. Engineers sophisticated backend solutions involving API versioning, caching strategies, and complex data migration plans.

• Operational Maturity. Leads observability and SRE practices, defines SLOs, manages incident responses, and conducts blameless post‑mortems.

• Security & Risk. Oversees operational security, including secrets hygiene and dependency risk management, to ensure a hardened production environment.

• Mentorship & Influence. Levels up the engineering organization through active mentorship, leading design reviews, and influencing the product roadmap with technical data.

• Cross‑Functional Impact. Coordinates multi‑team deliverables and aligns stakeholders to resolve technical blockers across the organization.

Our team works in person in London and Boston, three days a week. This role requires you to be based within commuting distance of one of our hubs. For certain roles, Perk can help with relocation from anywhere in the world. English is the official language at the office.
