What you'll be doing
Leading the technical delivery of embedded software test activities to meet project timescales and cost targets (R&D + customer projects)
Supporting embedded software testing across vehicle domains (powertrain, BMS, charging) through development and validation of embedded software
Contributing to the development and review of software requirements documentation
Creating and owning technical test plans and associated test documentation
Supporting system integration testing and providing practical debugging capability during development
Bench testing and validating software functionality and safety requirements
Liaising with customers, suppliers and partners to handle technical queries and resolve issues
Working closely with other disciplines (electronics hardware, controls software, systems) to deliver production-ready solutions
Mentoring and guiding junior engineers; contributing to estimates and planning for new projects
What we're looking for (essential)
Relevant industry experience in an OEM or Tier 1 environment (production and/or R&D programmes)
Strong experience in embedded firmware testing (software deployed onto, and interfacing with, bespoke hardware)
Experience supporting systems engineering processes and embedded software test Significant experience developing scripting languages for test systems (e.g. Python or similar)
Experience testing functional safety compliant software (ISO 26262)
Strong documentation experience (requirements specs, test specifications, technical reports, manuals, work instructions)
Practical bench testing and validation experience
Automotive comms/diagnostics protocols such as CAN / CAN-FD / Flex Ray / UDS / OBD / J1939
Comfortable dealing with external stakeholders (customers/suppliers) to resolve technical issues
Degree qualified in Engineering or a Science-related discipline
Nice to have Model-based development exposure (UML / SysML; Simulink / Target Link)
Low-level software testing for xEV components (BMS, inverter, DC/DC converters, OBC, etc.)Familiarity with automotive diagnostics and calibration tools
Knowledge of Automotive SPICE Control systems knowledge / practical control theory understanding
