Role Description

This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Birmingham for the position of Head of Hockey. The Head of Hockey will be responsible for leading and developing the university’s hockey program, including coaching both players and teams at various levels. Additional responsibilities include planning and executing training sessions, managing matches and competition schedules, overseeing player recruitment, and ensuring the development of pathways for talent progression.

The role also requires strong collaboration with staff, students, and sports professionals to promote and enhance the sport of hockey within the university community.

Qualifications
  • Proven expertise and experience in coaching field hockey, including technical and tactical skills development.
  • Leadership and team management skills, with experience in leading sports teams or programs.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills for scheduling training and competitions.
  • Ability to mentor and develop players and coaching staff effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and teamwork.
  • Recognition of and commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in sports.
  • Experience in managing operational aspects of a sports program.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related field is preferred, alongside relevant coaching qualifications.
