As Second Captain (Schiffsführer
2), you are the right hand of the First Captain and play a key role in the safe and efficient operation of our inland tanker vessels
. You are responsible for safe navigation during your watch and act as the official substitute for the First Captain whenever required. Together, you carry the overall responsibility for the vessel, the crew, compliance to company and international regulations.
- Navigate the vessel safely during your watch and always prioritise safety.
- Assume full
command of the vessel in the absence of the First Captain. - Support the First Captain in the daily operation of the vessel and crew.
- Supervise cargo operations, mooring activities and deck operations.
- Lead and coach the crew during your watch while ensuring clear communication.
- Report incidents
, defects and operational deviations immediately to the First Captain. - Oversee BIQs
, maintain vessel documentation and ensure inspection readiness. - Support safety drills, emergency preparedness and compliance with the SMS, ADN, RPR and CEVNI regulations.
- Valid Patent A/B.
- Valid ADN Certificate
. - Fahrtenschreiber qualification.
- Valid Tresco Navigis / ECDIS Certificate
. - Experience as a Second Captain
, Schiffsführer
, Captain or similar role in inland navigation, preferably on tanker vessels
. - Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- Good communication skills in English or German and at least basic River Speech
. - A proactive attitude with a strong focus on safety and teamwork.
- Net salary between €4.150 and €4.700
