The Role:
We are currently recruiting an experienced telehandler driver for an ongoing contract on a major commercial construction project in Bishop Auckland.
This is a long-term opportunity for a skilled and dependable plant operator looking for consistent contract hours. Working closely with the Site Manager, logistics team, and trade sub-contractors, you will play a key role in keeping site operations, material movements, and heavy lifts running safely and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:- Safely operating a telescopic handler across a busy commercial construction site.
- Unloading delivery lorries and staging materials, structural components, and equipment across site storage areas and active work zones.
- Assisting sub-contractors and site trades with scheduled overhead and ground material lifts.
- Carrying out daily pre-use plant checks, logging inspections, and maintaining machine cleanliness and safety standards.
- Strictly enforcing site safety protocols, including pedestrian segregation, traffic management plans, and safe working load limits.
- Stepping off the machine during downtime to assist with general site housekeeping and keeping the compound organised

- Valid CPCS or NPORS Card with Telescopic Handler category (Essential).
- Solid experience operating a Telehandler on commercial or industrial construction projects.
- Full PPE (Hard hat, high-vis jacket/vest, steel toe cap boots).
- Valid UK Driving Licence.
- Strong commitment to site health and safety standards.
- Excellent punctuality, reliability, and clear communication skills.
- Based in or easily commutable to Bishop Auckland / County Durham.
