Occupational Health Nurse

Role Overview

We are seeking a Registered General Nurse with an interest in developing a career in Occupational Health Medicine to join the County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust Occupational Health Department. The role is based primarily at Bishop Auckland Hospital, with travel to other hospital sites within the Trust.

• Provide nursing support to colleagues such as Specialist Nurses, Nurse Associates, and Nurse Assistants within the Occupational Health team.
• Arrange and conduct vaccination clinics, perform pre‑employment health assessments, and conduct telephone advice and signposting sessions.
• Participate in health surveillance activities, including assessment, screening and support for blood‑borne virus exposures following needle stick injuries.
• Assist with contact tracing and outbreak investigations, liaising with the infection control team and external agencies.
• Contribute to health promotion, health education and vaccination campaigns across the Trust.

• Registered General Nurse with full registration held with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as within a multi‑disciplinary team.
• Evidence of relevant training and certificates required for occupational health practice; all certificates must be presented to complete pre‑employment checks.
