1:1 Learning Support Assistant | Bishops Stortford | ASAP Start Full-time | Term-time only | Split Role (Class TA 1:1 Support) | Year 3 | ASAP Start A welcoming primary school in Bishops Stortford is seeking a resilient, adaptable and relationship-focused Learning Support Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This is a split role across the school day .
Half the day will be spent as a general Teaching Assistant in Year 3 , supporting the class teacher and pupils with their learning. The second half will involve providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 3 pupil with autism who presents challenging behaviour . The successful candidate must have a proven track record of supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour and be confident remaining calm and consistent in complex or unpredictable situations.
Experience using de-escalation, clear boundaries and positive behaviour strategies would be highly beneficial. Key responsibilities Support the Year 3 class as a general TA for half the school day Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 3 pupil with autism Implement behaviour, communication and regulation strategies Build a trusting relationship based on consistency and clear expectations Support emotional regulation, transitions and engagement with learning Monitor behaviour and progress and provide feedback to the SENCO and teaching team Work collaboratively with teachers and external professionals The successful candidate will:
Have proven experience supporting challenging behaviour essential Have previous experience working with children or young people Be patient, resilient and emotionally confident Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills Be adaptable and able to work effectively in both classroom and 1:1 settings Have a genuine interest in SEND and autism support Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK, as we are unable to offer visa sponsorship.
