Electrical Engineer / Electrical Control Systems Engineer

Our client has been established for more than half a century and specialises in the design, manufacture and global supply of bespoke and innovative cleaning solutions to a range of sectors including biotech and pharmaceutical. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, the company is now seeking to recruit an experienced Electrical Engineer to complement their professional team.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake the wiring of skid‑mounted equipment including valves, pumps, heaters and instrumentation and fit skid‑mounted pneumatic equipment.
  • Terminate cabling and pneumatics in control panels and set up systems for testing using technical drawings.
  • Manufacture control panels, drill and fit control equipment to technical drawings before performing initial test and commissioning of the control systems.
  • Oversee the activities of sub‑contractors, ensuring consistent high standards and correct installation of systems/equipment.
  • Lead FAT tests from an electrical aspect, supporting the Automation Team and ensure associated electrical/process drawings are up to date.
  • Oversee project milestones and keep PMs aware of missing equipment, instruments or tags to ensure systems are complete prior to FAT/shipment.
  • Undertake PAT testing within the workplace, perform electrical stock‑take activities and report any identified low stock for replenishment.
  • Perform fault finding and rectification of workshop electrical faults and damaged/faulty equipment.
  • Work alongside designers in the early stages of a project for placement of containment and equipment on the skid/system, and undertake the electrical installation of systems on site as well as on‑site fault‑finding/breakdown requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Relevant electrical or controls engineering qualification.
  • At least 4 years of experience in controls and basic wiring/panel wiring environments.
  • High level of literacy in reading electrical drawings and basic workshop technical skills (familiar with power tools, hand tools and engineering hygiene).
  • Ability to work on skids and navigate steel‑framed equipment systems.
  • Strong electrical knowledge of engineering process equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers and valves.
  • Ability to gather technical specification information internally and externally.
  • Full UK driving licence, as travel to sites will be required.
  • Advanced panel wiring knowledge, ability to perform fault find, modification and debug on PLCs and HMIs.
  • Understanding of P&’s and General Arrangement drawings, basic circuits, fault finding, testing and commissioning of skid wiring and electrical panels.
