Electrical Engineer / Electrical Control Systems Engineer – Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire. GBP Excellent + generous benefits. Our client has been established for more than half a century and specialise in the design, manufacture and global supply of bespoke and innovative cleaning solutions to biotech and pharmaceutical sectors. This role seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to complement the professional team.

• Undertaking the wiring of skid mounted equipment including valves, pumps, heaters and instrumentation and the fitting of skid mounted pneumatic equipment.
• Terminating cabling and pneumatics in control panels and wiring control panels, and setting up systems for testing using technical drawings.
• Manufacturing control panels, drilling and fitting control equipment to technical drawings, followed by initial testing and commissioning of the control systems.
• Overseeing the activities of subcontractors to ensure high standards and correct installation of systems/equipment.
• Leading FAT tests from an electrical perspective and supporting the Automation Team, including ensuring electrical/process drawings are up to date.
• Overseeing project milestones and informing project managers of missing equipment, instruments or tags to ensure systems are complete prior to FAT/shipment.
• Carrying out PAT testing at the workplace and performing electrical stock takes, reporting any identified low stock to enable replenishment.
• Performing fault finding and rectification of workshop electrical faults and damaged/faulty equipment.
• Collaborating with designers in the early project stages for placement of containment and equipment on the skid/system, and carrying out electrical installation on site as well as on-site fault finding/breakdown support as required.

• Electrical or controls engineering qualification with at least 4 years’ experience in a controls and basic wiring/panel wiring environment.
• High literacy in reading electrical drawings and familiarity with power tools, hand tools and engineering hygiene.
• Comfort with physical aspects of working on skids and with good working knowledge of process equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, valves) including the ability to gather technical specification information.
• Ability to travel to sites away from the Bishops Stortford facility; a full UK driving licence is essential.
• Desirable: advanced panel wiring knowledge, ability to perform fault finding, modification and debugging on PLCs and HMIs, and understanding of P&IDs and general arrangement drawings; knowledge of basic circuits, fault finding, testing and commissioning of skid wiring and electrical panels.
