This position offers exposure across all areas of finance operations, making it ideal for someone looking to broaden their experience and develop within a supportive and fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant:
- Manage accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, credit control support, and aged debtor reporting
- Handle accounts payable activities, including invoice processing, payment runs, and supplier statement reconciliations
- Support payroll processing on a monthly basis, ensuring accuracy of employee payments and data maintenance
- Assist with statutory payroll requirements including PAYE, NI, pensions, and year-end reporting
- Support month-end close processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations
- Reconcile key balance sheet accounts, including bank, sales, and purchase ledgers
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure strong audit trails are in place
- Support VAT returns and ensure correct tax treatment of transactions
- Assist with the use and maintenance of finance systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity
- Support internal controls and compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to resolve financial queries and support business operations
- Provide ad-hoc financial information and reporting to support management decision-making
- AAT qualified (or working towards) or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience in a finance or accounting role with exposure to transactional finance
- Strong understanding of core finance processes including AP, AR and reconciliations
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proactive, adaptable and willing to support a busy finance team
