This is a rare opportunity to join an established, boutique customs operation, recognised as leading experts in private aviation (non-commercial aircraft) and other high-value assets.
You'll join this friendly, welcoming team as the specialist in Customs Declaration Systems (CDS) supporting complex UK and EU customs activity within a highly regulated, professional services environment.
You’ll support end-to-end CDS operations and trade compliance, ensuring accuracy, regulatory alignment and continuous improvement across customs processes.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and external authorities, you’ll play a key role in maintaining compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
There is a competitive basic salary on offer, which is very much negotiable depending on your level of skills and experience in this field.
Plus an excellent benefits package, including private medical insurance, generous employer pension contribution, discretionary bonus, hybrid working and enhanced family leave.
This is a full time, permanent role, based out of offices in central Bishop's Stortford, just a short walk from the train station. Easily commutable from Harlow, Chelmsford, Stevenage, Enfield, Hatfield, etc.
What you'll be doing:
Processing CDS entries, resolving errors and maintaining CDS data
Supporting UK and EU customs compliance, including UCC and HMRC requirements
Managing tariff codes, commodity classification and customs procedures
Supporting Special Procedure and AEO authorisations
Assisting with audits, CAPAs and regulatory inspections
Liaising with government bodies and maintaining internal procedures
Supporting internal training on customs compliance where required
What you need:
Excellent working knowledge of CDS,
Strong understanding of UK/EU customs rules, export licensing and trade compliance,
Exceptional attention to detail
A professional qualification (e.g. BIFA, IOE&IT) would be advantageous
Understanding of business aviation is desirable
Experience of export controls (including EU, US ITAR/EAR), international trade decision-making, and compliance within aerospace, defence or security environments would be useful for this role.
Perhaps you have mastered your trade in one of the big logistics companies and now would like a change of pace and culture. Interested? Apply today
