Deputy Court Clerk

Job Overview

This position provides clerical and customer service support for the operations of the municipal court.

• Enters complaints, issues summonses, attaches required reports, processes pleas, schedules trial dates, enters dispositions, finalizes cases following court appearances, prepares payment schedules and forwards cases to District Court for jury trials.
• Answers telephones, greets visitors, provides information and assistance.
• Processes payments.
• Issues suspension notices and court summonses for non-payment, issues tow warrants.
• Sets trial dates, issues warrants, enters dismissals.
• Checks people in for court, assists defendants with paperwork.
• Reviews sentences with defendants, sets up payment plans, processes payments.
• Prepares a variety of regular and special reports.
• Performs related duties.

• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
