Accompanist

Light of Christ Catholic Schools is seeking a skilled, part-time choir accompanist to support the middle school choral program. This position is responsible for providing essential piano support during rehearsals and performances, collaborating closely with the choir director to enhance students' musical growth and ensemble experience.

• Support the philosophy of Catholic education and teach, advocate, encourage, counsel and witness in keeping with the beliefs and practices of the Catholic faith and teachings. Strive to serve as a role model for students in their spiritual growth.
• Provide piano accompaniment for choir rehearsals, concerts, Masses, and special events.
• Collaborate with the choir director to prepare music and support vocal instruction.
• Assist with sectional rehearsals and vocal warm-ups as needed.
• Adapt accompaniment to suit varying student skill levels.
• Maintain punctuality and professionalism during all scheduled activities.
• Keep strict confidentiality on private matters pertaining to students and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Proficiency in piano performance, accompaniment, and sight-reading.
• Experience accompanying vocal ensembles.
• Ability to follow conductor cues and adjust tempo/dynamics accordingly.
• Reliability and commitment to scheduled rehearsals and performances.
• Bachelor’s degree in music (preferred but not required).

The employee regularly works indoors/outdoors. The noise level in the work environment varies from moderate to loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use finger dexterity. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, bend, twist, and lift up to 25 pounds.

St. Mary's Academy; 3 days a week during choir rehearsals when school is in session; must be available occasionally for weekend concerts.
