Bismarck Public Schools is accepting applications for an ECSE Instructional Aide at BECEP.

This position requires the Aide to assist in a classroom and provide services (under the direction of a Special Education Teacher) to children ages three to six with an Individual Education Program.

Hours of work will be 7:15 AM‑3:30 PM Monday‑Thursday. Total weekly hours would be 31 hours.

Responsibilities
  • Know, understand and support the approved Personnel Policies and Procedures of BECEP and Bismarck Public Schools.
  • Attend all pre‑service and in‑service training, and meetings as required.
  • Participate in daily planning, implementing, and evaluating classroom activities and child performance with the classroom teacher.
  • Work with individuals or groups of children, without direct supervision, in the classroom or on the playground.
  • Assist the teacher with the supervision and care of children during designated school hours.
  • Assist the children with loading and unloading buses, dressing, toileting, diapering, washing, and tooth brushing activities as needed.
  • Assist the substitute teacher and ensure children’s needs are being met in the absence of the teacher.
  • Be responsible for all assigned documentation.
  • Respect the cultural and ethnic values of families.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding BECEP children and families.
  • Demonstrate a caring approach when working with children and their families.
  • Communicate all child information and questions to teacher.
  • Must be physically able to lift and carry children and equipment (up to 25 pounds).
  • Be aware of and follow all safety and emergency procedures.
  • Act as a positive, contributing team member in working with staff.
  • Provide own transportation.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Evaluations

All jobs will be evaluated on a formal basis at least once per calendar year. Additional evaluation may be required at the discretion of the supervisor.
