PositionWe are seeking a full-time Account Budget Specialist to perform essential accounting, fiscal and financial reporting functions. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the financial integrity of programs that serve businesses, communities, and citizens statewide.
Responsibilities- Code accounts payable transactions and process payments using the People Soft Financial system for agency divisions.
- Support vendor setup and management through ND State Vendor Registry.
- Provide fiscal support for new and existing grant-funded programs, including financial setup, monitoring, and reporting.
- Assist with maintaining and updating accounting procedures and practices as operational or regulatory changes occur.
- Assist with monitoring and preparing/completing financial reports as assigned.
- Support fiscal year-end closeout activities and assist with preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
- Serve as a financial resource to agency staff, partners, vendors, and the public by responding to inquiries and open records requests.
- Assist with financial requirements needed to setup and maintain various grant programs agency wide.

Minimum QualificationsAn Associate degree is required, along with one to three (1-3) years of related experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance. Experience with state accounting systems and People Soft Financials is preferred.
Ability to travel, as needed, to the Bismarck Commerce office and for meetings, conferences, or trainings.
Preferred Skills & Attributes- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with financial data and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn to use integrated accounting systems.
- Interest in contributing to public service and statewide programs.
Commerce has a central office location in Bismarck, and this position will be working remotely from any North Dakota location. Travel is required, as needed, to the Bismarck Commerce office and for meetings, conferences, or trainings.
SalaryThe hiring salary range is $4,929 - $5,545 monthly.
