• Collects subjective and objective health status data from the patient or caregiver and communicates data to healthcare provider
• Follows through on the patient’s plan of care under the direction of the provider
• Communicates the provider’s written instructions for care to the patient, or caregiver
• Participates in care for patients, across the lifespan, in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, treatment, and follow-up as patients move in and out of care settings
• Obtains vital signs, prepares patients for examinations, observes and reports patient’s signs or symptoms, and performs point of care testing

Must be a graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program. Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Nationally certified or registered as a Medical Assistant (MA).

Certification options include CMA through AAMA, CCMA through NHA, CMAC through AMCA, NCMA through NCCT, or registration (RMA) through AMT. North Dakota registration as an MAIII through the ND Board of Nursing is required or granted 4 months to obtain; must be supervised by a licensed nurse for any medication administration until registration is obtained. If working in MN, IA, SD, or OR, state registration may not be required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within six months of employment and recertification as required.

Department Details The General Surgery Clinic is looking for a Medical Assistant to join their team in a full time role. This clinic has a fun, growing team who create long term relationships while utilizing skills in a specialty area. Clinic is open Monday - Friday 8:00a-5:00pm; no weekends or holidays.
