Job Description
What you’ll do
Lead a team of 6–12 engineers delivering NOS features end to end (design, implementation, test, rollout, and operations).
Translate product/architecture goals into clear backlogs, milestones, and quality gates; manage predictable delivery.
Review designs for correctness, performance, and operability across kernel/datapath, on-box agents, and telemetry.
Uphold operational excellence: SLOs/error budgets, canaries, staged rollouts, incident response, and blameless postmortems with durable fixes.
Build a feedback-rich culture; hire, onboard, coach, and grow engineers; establish clear expectations and performance management.
Collaborate with partner teams (Networking, Compute, Security, SRE) to land dependencies, resolve conflicts, and align on SLAs/SLOs.
Maintain secure development practices: signed artifacts, change control, auditability, vulnerability management, and compliance with Oracle policies.
Domain ownership within NOS (e.g., datapath feature area, on-box telemetry, or a control plane agent), not the entire program.
Operates with an M5 manager/architect for strategy; focuses on execution excellence, team health, and local technical leadership.
6 years in systems/networking software with 2 years managing engineers.
Experience shipping production features in one or more:
Linux kernel networking (qdisc, netfilter, XDP/eBPF), user-space datapath (DPDK), switch NOS components, L2/L3 protocols, QoS, or on-box telemetry/observability.Demonstrated delivery using CI/CD, feature flags, canaries, metrics-driven release criteria.
Proven people leadership: hiring, coaching, performance management, inclusive team practices.
Solid cross-functional collaboration and clear written/spoken communication.
Depth in at least one: eBPF/XDP, AFDP, DPDK, Smart
NIC/IPU integration, EVPN/BGP, ECMP/QoS, kernel performance tuning, packet capture/analysis.Track record improving reliability (MTTR/incident rate) and performance (latency/throughput) with measurable outcomes.
Experience leading postmortems and converting learnings into mechanisms (test automation, rollout guards, pre-flight checks).
Exposure to secure development lifecycle, SBOMs, signed builds, and change management.
Prior experience in cloud-scale environments or switching vendors.
Certain US customer or client-facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates.

Hiring Range in USD from: $118,300 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Paid time off:
Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment.
Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
