Job Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for patients of all ages. Functions in a structured care setting and adheres to Sanford's policies and procedures. Collaborates with inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate care. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles, performs testing, and interprets data to assess patient status. Provides appropriate care based on age-specific needs, understanding medications and their effects.
Functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined by the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice. Sanford's nursing practice is based on the American Nurses Association's Scope and Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- If IV therapy/management is required, graduation from a Board-approved AASPN program with IV therapy included or completion of an approved IV Therapy course in North Dakota.
- Unencumbered LPN license with the State Nursing Board and/or multi-state licensure privileges.
- Maintain required competencies and certifications, complete annual CEUs, and competency training.
