Med/Surg RN Job Details – Bismarck, ND

• Assignment Type:
  Locum tenens (Travel RN position)

• Unit:
  Medical Surgical (Med/Surg, 4C)
• Duration: 13 weeks (August 5, 2025 – November 4, 2025)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (rotating shifts available); every other weekend and holiday required
• Guaranteed
  
  Hours:
  
  36 hours per week
• Bed Size: 24-bed Med/Surg unit
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
• Dress Code:
  Navy blue scrubs
• Charting System: EPIC electronic medical records

Med/Surg RN Qualifications

• Active North Dakota or Compact RN license
• BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience
• Proficient in pre- and post-operative care, IV starts, dressing changes, Foley catheter care, and core nursing skills
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, including every other weekend and holiday
• Strong organizational skills to manage high patient turnover (admissions/discharges)
• Willingness to float to other Medical Surgical units as needed
• Must reside outside an 80-mile radius of Bismarck, ND

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to observation and short-stay patients (chest pain, abdominal pain, post-op procedures)
• Efficiently manage multiple admissions and discharges per shift in a busy Med/Surg environment
• Administer medications, perform IV starts, and complete dressing changes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
• Accurately document patient care in the EPIC EMR system
• Participate in orientation and training, including classroom and preceptor-led shifts
• Float to other Med/Surg units as required, following the same rotation as permanent staff
