Position: Aquatic Nuisance Species Technician Temporary 7 months

Aquatic Nuisance Species Technician Temporary 7 months

Location:

Bismarck, ND (may also have positions available in Devils Lake and Riverdale).

Salary: $20/hour.

Closing Date:
March 1, 2026.

Status:
Temporary, Seasonal, 7 months (April-October).

Job Duration: 40 hours per week (may exceed). Requires weekend work, on‑call during the summer boating season, overnight travel (vehicles provided). Expenses reimbursed per policy.

Summary of Work
  • Assist with supervision of summer seasonal watercraft inspectors.
  • Perform boat decontaminations of high‑risk and zebra mussel‑fouled watercraft.
  • Survey watercraft users and perform boat inspections.
  • Educate the public on strategies to prevent the spread of ANS.
  • Conduct ANS surveillance surveys.
  • Process summer water‑collection samples using microscopy.
  • Maintain equipment and gear.
  • Work weekends and holidays.
  • Travel overnight as required.
Minimum Qualifications

Requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Fisheries/Wildlife Biology or Management or a closely related natural resource science degree. Applicants graduating in spring 2026 may also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference given to individuals with supervision and leadership experience.
