this position is responsible for planning, coordinating, directing, and presenting interpretive programs and special events to park visitors, civic groups, and private organizations. Duties include researching and recording data regarding programs, organizing, and preparing press releases, reports, and brochures, preparing slide presentations, exhibits, and written scripts for audio-visual programs, supervising park operations in the absence of other uniformed personnel, and assisting the superintendent in planning and operations including participating in emergency response situations.
Duties also include public relations, conservation and protection of plant and animal life in the park, maintaining hiking trails, purchasing materials, and performing office duties. Applicant must have or be able to complete the agfc boater education course, the american red cross wilderness and remote first aid course and arc cpr for the professional rescuer. Applicant must have a high comfort level with the water, strong swimming skills, the ability to operate watercraft, and a willingness to work with live animals.
Experience with microsoft office software, photographic and audio-visual equipment, and writing of publications is preferred. Must be able to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and be willing to work in adverse weather. A criminal background check and driving record check are required.

at least two years of experience in interpretive programming, environmental education, museums, education, or a related field. Other job‑related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.

job summarythe parks, heritage, and tourism interpreter ii is responsible for developing and conducting engaging interpretive programs that educate and inspire visitors about arkansas’s natural, cultural, and historical resources. This position plays a key role in public outreach, program development, and resource preservation, working within state parks, historic sites, and other heritage locations.
