Overview

FPM Remediations, Inc. is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Equipment Operator for a temporary full-time position with our environmental remediation construction team at an Army Aviation site in Bismark North Dakota. The Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating heavy machinery, including skid steers, backhoes, front end loaders, and dump trucks, to support earthwork, utility installation, and other site development tasks.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Operate construction equipment to perform tasks including trenching, excavation, back filling, site grading, and utility installation.
  • Load, haul, and distribute soil, aggregate, and construction materials using dump trucks and loaders.
  • Conduct clearing and grubbing of disturbance areas in preparation for pipeline and vault installations.
  • Support pipe installation for extraction/injection wells and chemical feed systems, including HDPE, ductile iron, and CPVC pipelines.
  • Maintain and operate within erosion and sedimentation controls in accordance with stormwater management best practices.
  • Assist in construction of site infrastructure such as temporary access roads, laydown areas, and stormwater controls.
  • Participate in daily safety briefings and comply with EM 385-1-1 safety standards and project-specific health and safety plans.
  • Work under direction of project superintendent and coordinate activities with other trades and subcontractors.
  • Inspect, maintain, and perform basic troubleshooting on assigned equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.
Education and/or Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating heavy construction equipment in civil/site development or environmental remediation projects.
  • Demonstrated experience operating at least three of the following: skid steer, backhoe, front end loader, and dump truck.
  • Training certifications or manufacturer/operator credentials relevant to equipment (e.g., OSHA 10/30, HAZWOPER, or specific operator cards).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Experience working on federal or environmental remediation sites preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work 10-hour days, Monday through Saturday, with work restricted to daylight hours unless otherwise approved.
  • Must pass pre-employment background check, drug screening, and health and safety training (including site-specific orientation).
  • Availability for occasional work outside standard hours with 48-hour advance notice.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred for operation of dump trucks and mobilization of equipment.
Security Clearance
  • Must pass pre-employment background check, drug screening, and health and safety training (including site-specific orientation).

Environment

Fieldwork involves performing physically demanding tasks and working 10-hour days (typically five (5) 10-hour days per week).

Work is regularly performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including snow, rain, sleet, extreme winds, or ice storms. May be exposed to extreme temperatures, hot and cold, as part of environmental factors. Work may be performed near moving mechanical parts and/or vibration. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles or electrical shock hazards.
