Summary The City of Bixby is seeking a motivated and customer-focused IT Help Desk Technician to join our Information Technology Department. The ideal candidate will provide technical assistance to city employees, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and support the city’s technology infrastructure. This role is essential to ensuring efficient daily operations across all city departments.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or GED equivalent (required)
- CompTIA A+ certification (desired/preferred)
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Provide after-hours support for infrastructure emergencies as well as off-hour maintenance
- Attend after-hour City Meetings as assigned.
- Assist teams members as needed
- Provide first-level technical support to city staff via phone, email, and in-person assistance
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and peripheral issues (PCs, printers, mobile devices, etc.)
- Assist with user account management, password resets, and access requests
- Log, track, and document help desk tickets and resolutions
Systems, Equipment & Network Support
Customer Service & Training
- Provide friendly, professional support to all city departments
- Assist staff with basic technology training and best practices
- Create and maintain end-user guides and documentation
- Assist with inventory tracking of IT equipment and supplies
- Support IT projects, system deployments, and infrastructure upgrades
- Maintain confidentiality and follow all cybersecurity and data protection policies
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or City Manager
- Handle stress effectively without it interfering with performance.
- Organize, set priorities, and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid and concise conclusions.
- Positive, self-motivated individual who can complete tasks independently
- Flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, and common business applications
- Diagnose and resolve common technical issues
- Follow procedures, document work, and manage multiple tasks
- Must be able to drive to and perform maintenance to all City-owned sites in all weather conditions
- May be required to lift objects weighing 50 pounds.
- Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with elected officials, city manager, department heads, other employees, employees of other agencies, and the general public.
- Flexibility to respond to after-hours assignments, issues, or emergencies as needed.
INSURANCE:
The City of Bixby provides an excellent benefit package for our employees Heath, Dental and Life Insurance coverage. The City of Bixby pays 100% of an employee’s Health and Dental Insurance coverage. An employee will pay $129.00 per month to add dependents to their Health and Dental coverage. The City of Bixby pays the balance of those premiums. The City of Bixby provides $20,000.00 in life insurance for the employee.
The employee may purchase additional coverage for himself and/or family member(s). The City of Bixby also offers Vision, AFLAC and Flexible Spending Accounts at the employee’s expense. RETIREMENT:
Retirement is through OPERS (Oklahoma Public Employees Retirement System), the employee contributes 3.5% bi-weekly and the City contributes 16.5%
EDUCATION:
The City offers various training classes and seminars at no cost to the employee. College reimbursement up to 50% of tuition costs with and annual limit up to $1,500. (The course of study has to be related to your job). HOLIDAYS:
The City offers 13 paid Holidays. VACATION:
After 6 months of full-time employment, employee will receive 5 days of vacation (1 wk.). Upon completion of 1 year of full-time employment, employee will receive an additional 5 days of vacation (1 wk.). 7-12 years of full-time employment, employee will receive 15 days of vacation (3 wks.). 13-14 years of full-time employment, employee will receive 20 days of vacation (4 wks.).
15-20 years of full-time employment, employee will receive 25 days of vacation (5 wks.). 20+ years of full-time employment, employee will receive 30 days of vacation (6 wks.). SICK LEAVE:
After 30 days of full-time employment, employees accrue 1 day (8 hrs.) sick leave per month.
