As a New Product Introduction Project Engineer, you will be at the heart of advancing new products through their developmental stages. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve:
Coordinating all development-phase activities required to advance new products through the NPI process, maintaining alignment with company standards. Lead Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to promote best practices and CI. Maintain and prioritise the development backlog by clearly defining tasks, sequencing them according to project objectives, and tracking progress against milestones. Monitor sprint progress closely, identify risks or delays early on, escalate issues appropriately, and ensure timely delivery of development milestones.
Serve as the central point of co-ordination for engineering tasks during each sprint cycle, facilitating clear communication of updates to stakeholders across departments. Support prototype and sample production by ensuring all development deliverables, documentation, and updates are complete, accurate, and approved before handover. Define and execute validation plans including SOPs, ITPs, PFMEAs, Control Plans and Risk Assessments to guarantee compliance with customer requirements and regulatory standards.
Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for any issues identified during prototype or sample production phases to maintain high quality standards. Utilise PLM systems, ERP tools, MS Project/Planner and Lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency and predictability in engineering delivery.
What you bring:
To excel as a NPI Project Engineer, you'll bring substantial experience gained from working on complex projects within a manufacturing or engineering environment. Key areas of applications that will be reviewed and discussed at interview stage are:
Strong understanding of Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban, with demonstrable experience applying these methodologies in engineering settings. Excellent problem-solving abilities coupled with the capacity to navigate ambiguity effectively when faced with complex challenges. Outstanding communication skills enabling you to manage stakeholder relationships while providing clear progress updates. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline is preferred but not mandatory if equivalent experience can be demonstrated.
Certification in Agile or Scrum methodologies would be advantageous for candidates looking to further their expertise in project management practices. Experience using PLM systems, MS Project/Planner and familiarity with ERP tools. Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles along with CI methodologies.
