Hawthorn One are representing a well-established global manufacturing group with operations across multiple international markets to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant job. Their UK finance function is based at a key manufacturing site in Blackburn, supporting several entities that produce a diverse range of products supplied to a broad customer base.

Ongoing investment in both operations and people has created the job opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Management Accountant to join their close-knit finance team. This role offers genuine progression within a growing international group where finance plays a central role in supporting strategic decision-making.
The RoleReporting to the Finance Manager, you will support the preparation of month-end management accounts across the UK entities, working within a collaborative team environment that encourages shared responsibility and development across the full accounting cycle.
You will play an integral part in producing journals, accruals and prepayments to ensure accurate and timely reporting. A key area of focus will be cash flow reporting, alongside managing intercompany recharges and reconciliations, and maintaining detailed nominal ledger schedules that underpin the monthly accounts.
You will also assist in preparing management reporting packs, performing variance analysis and completing balance sheet reconciliations to maintain the integrity of financial information. Within the manufacturing environment, you will gain valuable exposure to production and stock-related accounting, including monitoring inventory movements, reviewing costings and analysing manufacturing variances to provide meaningful insight to operational teams.
There will be opportunities to contribute to process improvements and support ad-hoc projects as the business continues its growth journey. While the role will initially focus on core reporting and cash flow responsibilities, there is clear scope to broaden your remit and take on increased ownership as you develop.
The CandidateWe are seeking a proactive and personable finance professional who is looking to build a long-term career within management accounting.
You will be AAT qualified, actively studying ACCA or CIMA, or qualified by experience, with a solid grounding in month-end processes. You will have gained exposure to journals, reconciliations and management reporting, and be keen to strengthen your commercial understanding within a dynamic business environment. Experience with in manufacturing would be advantageous but is not essential.
You will be confident using Excel to analyse data and investigate variances, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage information across multiple entities, including intercompany transactions. Just as importantly, you will bring a positive, team-focused approach and strong communication skills, enabling you to work effectively with both finance colleagues and operational stakeholders.
