Accounts Assistant The Company

A well-established, privately owned group based in the Blackburn area with a strong presence across property, construction, and related commercial operations. The finance function is central to supporting multiple trading entities within the group, offering a varied and fast-moving environment.

Opportunity

An Accounts Assistant is required to join a busy and supportive finance team. This is a hands‑on role with exposure across a range of transactional and month‑end accounting duties, supporting multiple areas of the group. It's an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys varied work and wants to develop their experience within a multi-entity environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Processing purchase and sales invoices across multiple entities
  • Matching, batching, and coding invoices accurately
  • Bank reconciliations and supporting month-end procedures
  • Assisting with credit control and debt recovery
  • Posting journals and maintaining accurate nominal ledgers
  • Supplier statement reconciliations and query resolution
  • Supporting the finance team with reporting and ad hoc tasks
About You
  • Previous experience in an accounts or finance support role
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 (essential)
  • Comfortable working with high volumes in a multi-entity environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
  • Good communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented approach
