Senior Staff Nurse – Band 6 – Darwen Ward

Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse at Royal Blackburn Hospital, Pendleview unit, male treatment ward. Closing date 03 August 2026.

• Support staff in assessment, planning and provision of care in line with national and local nursing policy.
• Exercise professional accountability and responsibility, demonstrating use of professional skills and expertise to provide high quality care.
• Use research, audit and enquiry to lead improvements in care.
• Promote teamwork, respect, kindness and ongoing learning within the clinical team in line with the Trust values and code of conduct.
• Demonstrate clinical leadership and oversight in the clinical practice of others.
• Deliver clinical supervision to junior staff, act as shift lead and role model, carry out clinical audits as required.
• Ensure comprehensive knowledge of clinical SOPs, working closely with the nursing team to maintain patient care standards.
• Provide nurse leadership within the multidisciplinary team and ensure effective assessment, formulation, planning and monitoring of care for inpatient service users.

• Post‑graduate qualification or equivalent experience.
• Specialist qualification or equivalent level in skills and development.

• Understanding of Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Knowledge and practice of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
• Knowledge and practice of the Mental Health Act 1983.

• Supervision and management of staff.
• Assessment, planning and implementation of care needs, and review of care plans.
• Experience of interacting therapeutically with distressed and/or disturbed individuals.
