Job overviewWard C11 is a 22 bedded acute ward in the the Medicine for Older People Directorate . A particular interest in Elderly & Frailty Medicine, is a must with the understanding that proactive prevention of deconditioning is crucial. You will work closely with the Multidisciplinary Teams ensuring the highest standards of safe, personal and effective care is being delivered. A flexible approach and the ability to respond to the demands of a rapidly changing acute clinical environment are essential.

You will demonstrate strong leadership qualities and have a passion for improving the patient and relative experience in addition to having a sound clinical knowledge base. In addition to this, you will possess well developed communication skills that will be used to engage, inspire and motivate both staff and patients in the clinical area. Good time management skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritise your workload.
You will be responsible for the leadership and development of the ward nursing team.
You will be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care and the management of a ward or equivalent sphere of nursing, including the deployment and supervision of staff and where the teaching of student and/or extensive nursing intervention is required. To support the co-ordination of medical emergency admissions to the Trust.
To effectively communicate with all the Wards and Departments, Emergency Department and General Practitioners to ensure timely and appropriate admissions and smooth, safe transfers and discharges. Participate in the Band 7 out of hours shift system to provide adequate nurse management cover on the hospital site.

Ensure an excellent patient journey, safe and effective discharge
planning to achieve a positive patient experience.
Support the provision of a clean environment
Person specification- Registered healthcare professional with current registration (NMC )
- Education to degree level, ideally in health related subject and speciality
- Non-Medical prescriber &/or willing to under take training
- Leadership qualification or willing to undertake
- management & leadership experience post registration
- Evidence of involvement in leading change and developing programmes of care.
