Job Description & How to Apply Below

Cafcass is committed to attracting, developing, and retaining a motivated and diverse workforce.

We are currently recruiting two (2) Family Liaison Workers. The roles will be fixed term contracts initially to the end of March 2027 and will require travel to our office in Blackburn a minimum of once per week in addition to attending training, team meetings with occasional travel to other offices as per business need.

The role of the Family Liaison worker is to work with Family Court Advisers, Service Managers and other colleagues to progress Cafcass’ work with families. Postholders will also work closely with family courts, Children’s Social Care and other key partners to contribute to reducing delay for families. This includes reviewing applications received by the Intake Team from the family court, ensuring that safeguarding checks are requested/received, and supporting Family Court Advisers across their Information Screening / Assessment functions.

The Family Liaison Worker will work directly with children and families, including sharing information and signposting to appropriate resources and support. It is expected that training and development opportunities will be considered as part of future planning.

The Child Focused Court model explores our commitment to improve experiences for children and families and tests a more investigative approach to managing Private Law family applications. The court encourages hearing the voice of each child or young person more clearly and earlier in proceedings. The approach is holistic and requires the development of positive working relationships with key local partners such as the court, mediators and local authorities.
