We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic General Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant local school. This is a general support role covering Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, with a strong background in behaviour management and experience working with children who have SEN. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a special school environment, catering specifically to primary-aged students.
The RoleThis is a full-time position, operating five days a week from 8:45 am to 3:15 pm. The role entails providing essential general support within the classroom setting. The successful candidate must have experience working across KS1 and KS2 and providing personalised support to individual students. You should be committed, reliable, and demonstrate high attendance. Flexibility and adaptability to the child s needs, likes, and interests are essential.
Experience in tailoring content to meet individual needs and incorporating their preferences to motivate and engage them will be highly beneficial.
- Providing Reading, Writing, and SPAG support across KS1 and KS2.
- Adjusting or breaking down activities to support participation and understanding.
- Developing supportive relationships with pupils that promote self-esteem and confidence.
- Developing knowledge and understanding of the specific academic, physical, emotional, and behavioural needs of pupils and responding to them effectively.
- Liaising with the Teacher and SENCO regarding the development and support needed at home and in school.
- Providing whole-class, small group, and 1:1 support.
- Monitoring and maintaining records of pupil progress.
- Assisting with general school duties, including setting up classrooms, preparing resources, and creating displays.
- Supervision of children during lunchtimes and during arrival/departure from school premises.
- TA Qualified (Minimum Level 2 required).
- Possession of an Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to acquire a new one).
- Eligibility to work in the UK (sponsorship is unavailable for this role).
- Previous experience in educational settings, particularly schools.
- Provision of two recent professional references.
- Comfort managing challenging behaviour and the ability to engage/motivate children.
