Are you looking for an opportunity to be at the cutting edge of our work and health provision?
We’re looking for a motivated, passionate self‑starter who wants to be part of our new Work Well Service in Blackpool.
Work Well is an early‑intervention work and health support and assessment service, providing non‑clinical holistic support to overcome health‑related barriers to employment (such as employer liaison and work and health coaching) and a single, joined‑up gateway to other support services that are available locally to tackle their specific needs. This could include healthcare professionals, community sector services, health promotion programmes, more intensive employment support, and much more.
Work Well services will involve a genuine understanding of local needs and will draw on new and existing support in local areas, joining up health services, local organisations, and job centres with the ultimate aim of offering speedy support for those recently unemployed or struggling to get to work due to ill health.
We welcome applications from people with experience in employment support or health improvement services. We’re looking for someone who can help individuals take control of their health and wellbeing using a holistic approach, connecting people to community groups and statutory services for practical support, whilst at the same time making steps to re‑enter paid employment. You will need to build strong relationships with partner services to encourage suitable inward and outward referral pathways for our Work Well clients.
You will provide a friendly source of information about wellbeing and prevention approaches and work with individuals to co‑produce a simple "back to work" or "thrive in work" personalised support plan – based on the person’s priorities, interests, values and motivations – including what they can expect from the groups, activities and services they are being connected to and what the person can do for themselves to improve their health, wellbeing and employability.
You will need to have a fundamental belief that good work supports good health.
It is essential to have:
- Level 2 (GCSE Grade A‑C or Grade 4‑9) or equivalent qualification to include English and Maths
- NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance or other equivalent relevant qualification e.g. health improvement/health coaching
- Full driving licence (desirable only)
Blackpool Council is the largest employer in the area, dedicated to improving the health and well‑being of the local community, especially for the most disadvantaged. By becoming an Employment Specialist at Blackpool Council you will be making a genuine impact to the lives of people using our services.
Furthermore, you will receive an excellent and cohesive training and development opportunities, including access to the e‑learning site ‘iPool’, and all the support you need to take on the role and develop your skills.
You will also get a number of staff benefits working for Blackpool Council, such as:
- Achievable work‑life balance through a range of flexible working options
