Full Professor of Practice (Means and Methods Focus)
The Myers‑Lawson School of Construction (MLSoC) is seeking a non‑tenure‑track faculty member at the Full Professor of Practice rank for the Fall 2026 semester. This is a nine‑month, full‑time appointment focused primarily on teaching and service. The position will begin in Blacksburg, Virginia.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will teach 3‑4 courses per semester in the School of Construction, develop relationships with industry, and provide service to the School and the broader AEC industry. This position requires occasional travel to attend outreach events, conferences, and other professional meetings. MLSoC is dedicated to serving the community in the spirit of Ut Prosim and seeks candidates who adopt and practice the Virginia Tech Principles of Community.
Required Qualifications- A graduate or professional degree in construction or a closely related field
- Documented professional experience in construction or a related discipline
- Demonstrated expertise in construction means and methods in addition to one or more of the following areas: design‑build, fundamentals of construction management, and construction company management
- Certifications and/or licensure related to the applicant’s professional field (e.g., PMP, CCM, PE, RA)
- Demonstrated record of effective teaching in higher education, e.g., through end‑of‑semester teaching evaluations and/or peer reviews
- Engagement in academic program leadership and/or leadership of professional organizations
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
Salary$120,000 – $130,000
