We’re currently searching for a Health Promotion Coordinator to join our Hokie Wellness team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. So, if you’re passionate about student well‑being, please keep reading.
HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOWABOUT THE ROLE:
- You’ll be joining the Hokie Wellness team; a department centered on providing holistic well‑being resources to the Virginia Tech community by focusing on a variety of health and well‑being topics.
- You’ll be reporting to the Assistant Director of Health Education, in a Regular twelve‑month, 100% administrative professional appointment.
- You’ll be responsible for supporting student success, well‑being, and personal development by assessing need, creating and implementing programming, and evaluating health promotion strategies, policies, programs, interventions, and services.
- You’ll utilize evidence‑based and theory‑driven health promotion initiatives.
- You’ll be a dynamic teacher that addresses a broad array of health and wellness topics relevant to the university population. Some common areas include, but not limited to: digital well‑being, nutrition, sexual health, sleep, and body image.
- You’ll assist the Assistant Director of Health Education with student staff supervision, including graduate student(s) and the peer educator team, support large Hokie Wellness events and work with various campus partners to collaborate on programming and serve as a content expert.
- You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
- You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $51,000 - $53,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

- Bachelor's degree in health education, health promotion, public health, human development, psychology, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience and training in leading and supporting peer education teams.
- Experience assessing need, designing, implementing, and evaluating programs that focus on a variety of health and wellness topics.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple projects, while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high quality of work.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with public speaking experience; small group facilitation; and 1:1 coaching.
- Commitment to inclusive programming and creating a sense of belonging for all students.
- Master's degree in health education, health promotion, public health, human development, psychology, or related field.
- Prior experience working in health promotion/education in a higher education setting.
- CHES certification preferred.
