AZZ has an exciting opportunity for a Safety Clerk at our Blacksburg plant. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for implementing and enforcing plant safety while being a great resource for internal and external customers. You will also be responsible for ensuring the location stays compliant with all State and Federal regulations and reporting requirements. Internal audits, daily inspections and tracking are also part of this critical role.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Will have 70% plant presence and 30% office presence.
• Coordinates, conducts, and tracks employee training requirements and ensures compliance with regulatory agencies, job site safety plans, and company policies.
• Collaborate with plant employees to share best safety practices, provide guidance, inspect, or recommend equipment, provide alerts, and foster safe working practices to minimize risks.
• Emphasizes a “safety first” attitude. Completes and reviews injury reports, assists with investigations, conducts near-miss training/documentation and provides insight to plant leadership.
• Learn the aspects for quality of galvanized material to ensure it meets industry and customers’ expectations. Performs periodic audits to ensure established standards of quality are maintained.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred
• Field experience in a similar role preferred but not required. 1-2 years industrial safety experience preferred.
• Must be Highly Organized, Detail Oriented and a Self-Starter!
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required.
• Excellent written and oral communication for both internal and external engagement
• This is an on-site position and must be available to take emergency calls.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
