TRC is currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer (Solid Waste) to join our Southeast ECC division. The ideal candidate must have 5-10 years of solid waste experience and must have a Professional Engineering License (PE) in Virginia;
North Carolina preferred.

The position is based out of one of our Virginia or North Carolina locations.

The position provides opportunities for engineering design including detail preparation, land grading, stormwater calculations, report writing, permit application preparation and construction quality control. Projects include, but not limited to, the design and permitting of landfills, transfer stations, convenience centers, recycling facilities, and composting operations.

Responsibilities include engineering design, team support, and project management on a variety of waste resources engineering projects, with a particular focus on landfill design, landfill gas systems, landfill leachate systems, construction planning and oversight, landfill closure, landfill operations, landfill post‑closure care, transfer station design, MRF design, and recycling centers.

• Professional Engineer License required;
  Virginia required within six months, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida are a plus and may be required in the future
• 5-10 years of landfill design experience required
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, preferred
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills required
• Excellent technical/computer skills required
• Ability to work in a team environment and on multiple projects at the same time
• Mentor and train junior staff
• Valid driver’s license required

In addition to Solid Waste design, the successful applicant may also have experience in site planning, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, drainage design, grading plans.

Experience in all of these areas is not needed to apply, however we are seeking individuals with experience in as many of these areas as possible:

• Landfill design
• Landfill permitting
• Stormwater design
• Wetland permitting
• Leachate system design, management, and treatment
• Landfill gas collection and control system design including active gas systems.
• Management, blower/flair station, plant operations system troubleshooting and well field tuning, title V emissions reporting
