Heavy Vehicle Simulator Technician

Job Description

The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) is looking for a Heavy Vehicle Simulator Monitor. This position will provide support to the operations of the Center for Sustainable Transportation Infrastructure performing monitoring tasks associated with the Heavy Vehicle Simulator. Candidates will be working assigned shifts from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm or 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm or 12:00 am to 6:00 am.

VTTI is located on the Blacksburg Transit bus route with a bus stop s position is responsible for monitoring the HVS while in operation. Work requires candidate to be outside after dark, in differing weather conditions to perform a visual inspection of the HVS and record temperature readings. Notify supervisor of any issues with the HV operation and shut down the HVS when instructed.

• Must be responsible, dependable, and punctual.
• Demonstrated computer proficiency in office applications, such as Microsoft Office.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, with close attention to detail.
