Job Description
The Entomology Department is looking for a Postdoctoral Associate for the cytogenetic and genomic study of arboviral vector Aedes aegypti. The main objective of these studies is to introduce innovative approaches for developing next-generation-quality physical genome maps for disease vectors. The candidate will characterize chromosomal rearrangements in the arboviral vector Aedes aegypti genome, including their distribution across the global tropics and their role in the mosquitoes' adaptation to different climatic variables.
The candidate will also study the molecular basis of genetic divergence underlying inversion-associated phenotypes.
The candidate must have a Ph.D. in genetics, cell biology, entomology, or a related discipline received in last five years with at least one year of eligibility remaining. Experience in molecular biology is required, including the use of modern technologies such as Hi-C proximity ligation, advanced cytogenetics, fluorescence in situ hybridization, and bioinformatics.
Preferred QualificationsMolecular biology and genetics laboratory experience; web computer skills; ability to learn new techniques and procedures; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
