Job Description
A Historian/Archaeologist and Preservationist II, (Archaeologist) full-time (40 hours/week) university staff position is available with the Virginia Tech Conservation Management Institute to support cultural resources management (CRM) at Marine Corps Base-Quantico (MCBQ), Virginia. The incumbent will support CRM at MCBQ through:
The position will be located at Marine Corps Base-Quantico, Virginia near Stafford, Virginia.
Required Qualifications- B.S. in history, archaeology, anthropology, or a related field
- Strong professional experience or equivalent specialized training in archaeological research, administration, or management
- Some exposure to supervised field and analytical experience in general North American archaeology
- Ability to analyze data, artifacts, and historical structures
- Experience with Global Positioning Systems and ESRI-based GIS software is a plus
- Ability to perform basic statistical analysis of field data and report findings through written and oral communication
- Valid Driver’s License
- Master’s degree in history, archaeology, anthropology, or a related field
- Previous experience working on military installations
