CHEESE SHOP/CLERK – Kroger
Join our team to create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. Assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals, monitor quality assurance standards, and collaborate with the Deli/Bakery merchandising team to create an engaging atmosphere. Responsibilities- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and provide product recommendations.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
- Inform customers of Cheese Shop specials.
- Deliver fresh products to customers with correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
- Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe, using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
- Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell‑by dates.
- Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Understand the store layout and locate products when requested.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
- Maintain awareness of inventory conditions and note any discrepancies.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs are updated.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting issues.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Report safety risks or illegal activity to store management.
- Work cooperatively in a high‑pace, sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
- Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, or older adults.
- Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Comparable retail experience.
